I See Hawks In LA
There were the Byrds, then the Flying Burritos, and a few other notable bands from Los Angeles in the 1960s into the 1970s, and then I See Hawks in L.A. picked up the thread. Their sound might be embedded in the Hollywood Freeway, but underneath it’s really torqued by the Mojave Desert. Listen and hear not only what has come before, but what is also right around the next bend. Really, everything on their ear-opening new album, On Your Way, feels like a new day of music is rising.
Rick Shea
Shea covers the gamut of folk, gospel, blues, country and even some Mexican idioms, each song crafted with distinctive freshness and originality and to top it off, Shea's caramel baritone is as beautiful and resonant as his multi-string virtuosity is awe-inspiring. His career spans four decades and in that time he has worked as a solo artist and with bands such as Chris Gaffney and The Cold Hard Facts and Dave Alvin's Guilty Men.
